Garland to Make Debut
Former Kennedy High right-hander Jon Garland will make his major league debut today for the Chicago White Sox against the Kansas City Royals in Kansas City.
Garland, 20, was promoted from triple-A Charlotte, where he was 9-2 with a 2.26 earned-run average.
He was taken as the 10th pick overall by the Chicago Cubs in the 1997 draft, then traded to the White Sox in 1998.
“It’s exciting,” Coach Manny Alvarado of Kennedy said. “You get chills when you see him out there wearing a major league uniform.”
