O.C. Architect Bissell Honored

The American Institute of Architects California Council has named Orange County architect George Bissell the recipient of its 2000 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The founder of Newport Beach-based Bissell Architects was honored for his outstanding contributions to the improvement of the built environment and to the aims and goals of the profession of architecture in California.

“He is not only respected for his architectural work, but also for his dedication to high ethical standards and volunteer service to the profession,” said Paul W. Welch Jr., executive vice president of the architectural group.

Bissell, a USC graduate, has been an architect for more than four decades. His projects have included the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, the Graduate School of Management at UC Irvine and the San Francisco Solano Church in Rancho Santa Margarita.
