* Re “Harry Potter Fans Start a New Chapter,” July 8: The media blitz surrounding the release of the new Harry Potter adventure is a wonderful thing, simply because all of the excitement is about a book, instead of a movie or a toy. Maybe media hype will do something good for a change: encourage more kids to read!

In the story on the Harry Potter books, which listed other popular children’s books, I was surprised no mention was made of the Nancy Drew mystery series for girls. Go to Google.com, input “Nancy Drew” and take a look at all the references to Nancy and her adventures. She started with Grosset & Dunlap in the ‘30s. Now she’s with Simon & Schuster. Let’s hear it for Nancy!
