Lancaster’s Streak Grows to 13 With a 6-2 Victory

Lancaster parlayed five walks, two hits and two errors into a four-run seventh and won its 13th consecutive California League game Thursday night, 6-2, against the Mudville Nine at Stockton.

Robert Gandolfo, Craig Kuzmic and P.J. Williams each had two hits for the JetHawks (18-3).

Emmanuel Ulloa (7-3) of Lancaster allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked none in seven innings.

AROUND THE LEAGUES

Javier Delahoya, formerly of Grant High, was named the Lou Gehrig pitcher of the game Wednesday night at the Triple-A All-Star game in Rochester.

Delahoya, of Baltimore Oriole affiliate Rochester, pitched two perfect innings for the International League during an 8-2 loss to the Pacific Coast League.

Josh Towers of Rochester, formerly of Hueneme High and Oxnard College, pitched a perfect first inning before being relieved by Delahoya.

Right fielder Ryan McGuire of New York Met affiliate Norfolk, formerly of El Camino Real High, accounted for both International League runs, slashing a run-scoring single in the eighth and scoring on an error.

Double A--Former JetHawk Greg Wooten allowed no runs and two hits in one inning of relief for the American League affiliates in a 5-2 victory over the National League in the Double-A All-Star game at Bowie. Second baseman Jermaine Clark, another former JetHawk, stole a base.

Class A--Jon Schaeffer (Harvard-Westlake) had two hits and an RBI for Modesto (Athletics) in a 7-5 loss to San Jose.

Short Season--Ryan Hamill (Chaminade) hit his first professional home run for Johnson City (Cardinals) in a 7-5 victory over Elizabethton. . . . Matt Parris (Highland) pitched a shutout inning of relief for the Tigers in a 12-0 Gulf Coast League victory over the Braves.

Independent--Andy Wilson (Thousand Oaks) is batting .321 for Fargo-Moorhead.
