Museum Announces Scholarship Winners

* The Ventura County Museum of History and Art has announced the winners of its Bonita McFarland Trust scholarship program. The recipients were selected based on samples of work, essays and recommendations from teachers.

Meryl O’Connor, a Thousand Oaks High School graduate who will attend New York University in the fall, received $1,000. Julia Lee of Simi Valley, who will attend Rhode Island School of Design in the fall, received $500.

Five Ventura College students each received $500: Diana Chamberlain and Kristiana Ecsedy, both of Ojai; Jennifer Richardson and Pamela Vladyka, both of Ventura, and Marisa Redburn of Oxnard.

Y Receives Grant for Youth Day Camp * The Camarillo Family YMCA received a $2,000 grant from JCPenney. The money will help fund the Tracks ‘n’ Trails program, a middle school youth day camp that offers supervised sporting and environmental awareness activities.
