The City Council this week directed staff to research and develop a plan to address the future development of the long-delayed Harriett M. Wieder Regional Park.

Land for the 106-acre park, known as Linear Park, is adjacent to Bolsa Chica.

Councilman Ralph Bauer said he hopes staff will work with county officials on a plan to build the portion of the park that is publicly owned.

Hearthside Homes still owns 54 acres of the planned park, which it plans to designate to the county if the Coastal Commission approves a home development for the Bolsa Chica mesa.
