Robert Lee Williams, a retired oil derrick worker, died at his home in Oxnard on Sunday. He was 58.
He was born Dec. 23, 1941, in Bakersfield and moved to Ventura County when he was about 8 years old.
He had worked for Vetco Offshore Petroleum, Wiggins, H & P Drilling and Kenai Drilling Ltd. companies before retiring from the oil industry after 40 years as a derrick man.
Williams was a member of Iglesia Cristiana de Oxnard Church. He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by wife Silveria of Oxnard; sons Robert Williams of Las Vegas, Richard Williams of Porterville, John Gates of St. Louis and Scott Gates of Bakersfield; daughters Maria Elena Lawrence of Santa Paula and Kimberly Scott of Las Vegas; stepsons Jose Alamillo, Tony Alamillo, Carlos Alamillo, Raul Alamillo and Saul Huiza, all of Oxnard; stepdaughters Anna Martinez, Imelda Alamillo and Elizabeth Alamillo, all of Oxnard; and 26 grandchildren.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Harbor Community Church in Oxnard with the Rev. Henry Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula.
