The Planning Commission tonight will consider a proposal from Serra Catholic School to build a permanent elementary school campus on the corner of Avenida de las Banderas and Antonio Parkway.
Serra Catholic School has been operating an elementary school at the same location since 1995, using nine portable classrooms. The school has about 750 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
The school is projecting a maximum enrollment of 1,008 students, who would be broken up into four classes of about 28 students for each grade. The plans also call for the construction of a chapel, gymnasium, administrative offices, numerous specialized classrooms and an outdoor play field.
