Police arrested a 41-year-old man Wednesday on suspicion of possessing explosives, LAPD spokesman Don Cox said.

Detectives from the criminal conspiracy section of the Los Angeles Police Department arrested Daniel Bonczek about 11:15 a.m. at his Granada Hills home in the 16500 block of McKeever Street, Cox said.

Bonczek was booked at the Van Nuys Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Investigators declined to describe the amount or type of explosives Bonczek allegedly possessed, or to say what he planned to do with them, Cox said.
