Lawmaker’s Grandson Faces Trial in Additional Sex Case

The 21-year-old grandson of state Sen. Richard Mountjoy (R-Arcadia) was ordered Thursday to stand trial on charges that he had sex with a teenage girl while awaiting trial on another sex case involving a minor.

Pomona Superior Court Judge Dan Oki ruled there is sufficient evidence to require Michael Earl Mountjoy to stand trial.

Mountjoy was ordered last month to stand trial on three other charges, including unlawful sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old San Dimas girl he allegedly met in an Internet chat room last December.

The latest case accuses Mountjoy of two counts each of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and oral copulation of a person under the age of 18.

The criminal complaint alleges that Mountjoy committed another felony while out of jail and under house arrest.

The acts took place between last December and June 16 at Mountjoy’s house in Arcadia and in his car at the girl’s house in Walnut, Deputy Dist. Atty. Kim Santini said last month.

The girl, who was 16 when some of the alleged acts occurred, is now 17, the prosecutor said.
