Share

Dorothy O. Beauchamp, an active participant in Orange County civic and charitable causes and wife of Western Dental Services founder Robert F. Beauchamp, died Friday. She was 83.

Beauchamp and her family were pioneers on Balboa Island, spending summers there beginning in 1919. At that time it was a barren and sandy outpost with fewer than 10 homes.

During her lifetime, Beauchamp was recognized in Southern California social circles for her volunteer work and philanthropy. Among the organizations that benefited most from her charitable work were Angelina de Oro, Orangewood Children’s Home and her church, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the main sanctuary of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. The family has requested that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
