LAKE FOREST
The city is asking all local groups that want to display their patriotism to apply for a spot in the ninth annual Independence Day Parade on July 4.
Civic, sports and neighborhood groups can join the classic car clubs, mounted guards and marching bands that have appeared in past Independence Day parades.
The city especially is encouraging musical acts to join the parade and is also looking for volunteers to help run the event, said Recreation Coordinator Kathi Dickey.
Groups entering the parade should try to incorporate this year’s theme of “Cruisin’ to the Future,” but patriotic themes are always acceptable.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive. The parade route will follow Toledo Way to Lake Forest Drive.
