Freidune Niroumand; Financial Officer

Freidune Niroumand, a financial officer, died Tuesday at his Westlake Village home of heart failure. He was 67.

He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Masjid Suleiman, Iran, where he grew up and attended elementary and secondary schools.

He received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in administration and finance from Tehran University.

In 1958, Niroumand began a career as a financial officer of the National Iranian Oil Co. in Tehran.

A year later, he married Pouran Broomand.

In 1971, Niroumand was awarded a postgraduate fellowship to study business and financial management for one year at the University of Oklahoma.

He then returned to Iran as the senior financial officer of the National Iranian Oil Co. He also started a private consulting firm in business management.

Seven years later, he retired and moved to the United States with his wife and three sons, who went on to receive degrees from Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Moorpark College and a university in Kansas.

In 1987, Niroumand began working for Stirling Behavioral Health Institute in Reseda and Westlake Village as the personnel and financial officer.

He arrived early each day and jogged through Bennett Park in Westlake Village, because he enjoyed the beauty of early mornings in the park. He also loved gardening.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by sons Alex of Newbury Park, Ardavan of Belgium and Ahmad of Idaho.

Interment services were held Friday at Valley Oaks Memorial Park. A memorial service is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Forest Community Center, 32100 Triunfo Canyon Road, Westlake Village.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Mortuary in Westlake Village.
