One person was killed and at least one other person injured in two separate accidents on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway near Main Street in Santa Ana Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP provided details for only one of the accidents. The fatally injured person, whose identity authorities withheld, was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center. CHP officials said it was still unclear late Saturday how many others had been injured.

The CHP closed all northbound lanes at 7:22 p.m., backing up traffic for miles.

Saturday’s accident came just a day after another freeway fatality in Westminster, where a driver was killed after he lost control of his tow truck and crashed into the concrete median on the southbound San Diego Freeway. On Saturday, a spokesperson for the county coroner’s office identified the driver as Michael Reigelhuth35, of Whittier. The accident, which closed the carpool and passing lanes in both directions, backed up southbound traffic to the Lakewood Boulevard exit in Long Beach and northbound traffic to Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa.
