The Placentia City Council will vote Tuesday whether to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people who killed Jaime Avalos, who was stabbed to death April 20 on Melody Lane.

Acting Police Chief Russ Rice and City Administrator Robert D’Amato will recommend to the council the reward be approved.

Avalos was stabbed to death by two men while he was walking with his girlfriend that night. The men took his shoes and rode off on bikes as his girlfriend looked for help.

A city report said police have not been able to find any witnesses or anyone else who may have information on the case. Police hope the reward will encourage witnesses to step forward.

The council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the council chamber at City Hall, 401 E. Chapman Ave.
