Conference Explores Latino Market

Businesses, corporations or advertising executives pondering entry to the vast and growing Latino market can attend a two-day conference with leading market experts June 15 and 16 at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.

The event, which costs $1,595, is hosted by the Strategic Research Institute and reads like a who’s who in cutting-edge thinking about the Latino consumer. Among the topics: the financial services industry, new techniques to mine data on the Latino consumer market, e-commerce and online customer service for Latinos, Latin music marketing and Latino teen consumers.

Panelists include the head of Allstate’s Latino business initiative, J.C. Penney’s head of multicultural marketing and a list of top Latino “dot-com” leaders from Web sites such as Internet Mercado, StarMedia Network,Fiera.com, Eritmo.com and Espanol.com.

A keynote workshop on the financial services industry will be led by M. Isabel Valdes, chairwoman of Los Altos-based Access Worldwide Cultural Access Group. Recognized as an authority on the Latino market, Valdes recently published a book titled “Marketing to American Latinos: A Guide to the In-Culture Approach.”

The book pools statistical information and cultural insights on issues such as the value of immigrant Latino consumers and teen consumers.
