Residents can learn about legal and illegal pets today at Speak Up Newport’s monthly meeting.

Although wild animals are not commonly found in the community, authorities in April found three pet alligators in a Jacuzzi at a home.

Animal Control Officer Jayme Rogers and Cheryl Renders, the director of the Wonders of Wildlife organization, will give the presentation on animal adoption. The lecture will include information about spaying and neutering and which animals are allowed in the city.
