The couple immediately moved to Ventura, where her husband taught for many years. Alpeter also taught for several years for the Ventura Unified School District, retiring from Blanche Reynolds School.

Alpeter spent many of her retirement years traveling with her husband. She also volunteered for Friends of the Library and at the Olivas Adobe. She actively supported her husband’s work with Kiwanis International.

Alpeter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ventura.

She is survived by two daughters, Rita of Ventura and Barbara Nordquist of Bethesda, Md.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran.

Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura is handling the arrangements.
