Local Tax Revenue

Share

* As a recently retired department head from a local government agency in the San Joaquin Valley I was interested in John Russo’s June 7 commentary. While agreeing with what Russo had to say, I think local government officials are dreaming if they think that the majority of state elected officials intend to give back any confiscated tax revenues to local government. Once power is taken away it is seldom given back.

If local officials could raise an amount of money equal to that of the prison guards and teachers unions and flood Sacramento with campaign money they might have a slim chance. As it is, they will have to content themselves with writing articles for The Times.
