NEWPORT BEACH
The city will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday for the Bonita Canyon Sports Park.
Several city officials, including Mayor John E. Noyes and Councilman Tom Thomson, are expected to attend the event, which will take place at the construction trailer east of MacArthur Boulevard and south of Bonita Canyon Drive.
The 33.5-acre park will feature three youth baseball fields, three youth soccer fields, a multipurpose field, an oversized soccer field, two restroom buildings, walking trails, picnic areas and two tot lots.
