Third-graders from Thomas Jefferson II and Theodore Roosevelt elementary schools wrapped up this year’s “Kids for Parks” program with a picnic and the planting of a Brazilian pepper tree Thursday. Jefferson II and Theodore Roosevelt were the last of 13 schools to have the picnics, which commemorated their adoption of a city park for the 1999-2000 school year. Over the course of at least four visits, the students have learned about the parks, planted flowers and painted over graffiti.
