Lynx Set Team Record With Victory Over Miracle

Betty Lennox scored a career-high 25 points and Katie Smith had 24 as the Minnesota Lynx beat the Orlando Miracle, 72-66, on Thursday night before 7,189 at Minneapolis to extend their winning streak to a franchise-record four games.

Sonja Tate added 13 points for Minnesota, which scored 23 points off 24 Orlando turnovers. Smith was 12 for 12 from the foul line to set a franchise record.

Nykesha Sales scored 23 points, including a four-point play, and Adrienne Johnson added 20 for the Miracle.

Houston 77, Miami 53--Tina Thompson scored 20 points and Cynthia Cooper had 18 as the three-time defending WNBA champion Comets routed the expansion Sol before 10,459 at Houston.

Sheryl Swoopes added 16 points for the Comets, who led, 44-13, at the half.

Utah 96, Charlotte 68--Adrienne Goodson scored 27 points and Natalie Williams had 24 points and 18 rebounds as the Starzz defeated the Sting before 4,582 at Salt Lake City.

Margo Dydek added 16 points and blocked seven shots to help the Starzz set a franchise record for victory margin.

Sacramento 54, Seattle 50--Kedra Holland-Corn and Yolanda Griffith each scored 13 points to help the Monarchs survive the lowest point total in their four-year history and defeat the expansion Storm before 7,656 at Seattle.

Washington at Indiana, ppd.--The game between the Mystics and Fever was postponed until Aug. 3 because of weather-related flight cancellations.
