Share

A former commissioner for the U.S. Customs Service plans to discuss efforts underway in Congress to simplify the collection of tariffs and facilitate the entry of imports to the country Thursday in Los Angeles. George Weise is also expected to discuss the Customs Service’s own plans for entry simplification and how they mesh with a House bill that seeks to create periodic filing of duties and import documentation to replace the requirement of filing per shipment. Weise works as facilitator for the U.S. Business Alliance for Customs Modernization. His address, sponsored by the Foreign Trade Assn. of Southern California, is scheduled for noon at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton. For details, call (213) 627-0634, ext. 204.
