Memorial Service, Vigil and Fund-Raiser Planned

A memorial service for Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Parsons is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Calvary Chapel, 3800 S. Fairview St. in Santa Ana.

Fairview between Sunflower Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon. Those attending and traveling on the San Diego Freeway can exit on Harbor Boulevard and proceed north to eastbound MacArthur, then southbound Fairview.

Afterward, there will be a procession to Pacific View Memorial Park at 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar. The procession will begin at Calvary Chapel and head south on Fairview to the southbound 73 Freeway. Exit on Newport Coast Drive and proceed south to westbound San Joaquin Hills Road, northbound Marguerite Avenue, eastbound Pacific View Drive and into the memorial park.

A candlelight vigil will be at 8 p.m. today at Costeau Park, Alicia Parkway and Costeau Street in Laguna Hills.

Donations for the Parsons family can be sent to Deputy Steve Parsons Memorial Fund, Care of Assn. of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs, 1314 W. 5th Ave., Santa Ana, CA 92703.

Also, a fund-raiser is set for July 4, co-sponsored by Orange County Fire Authority personnel, Fire Station 22 in Laguna Woods, Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. The event, which will include a barbecue dinner, will be from noon to dusk at Laguna Hills High School, 25401 Paseo de Valencia.
