Capistrano Unified’s board of trustees has approved a second draft of the $260-million budget for fiscal 2001.

But the district can’t draft a final document until after the state budget is signed by the governor. Capistrano Unified’s budget is based on what the Legislature and the governor decide to allocate to public schools statewide.

The state budget was approved last week by both the Assembly and the Senate, but it is still awaiting Gov. Gray Davis’ signature.

In Monday’s presentation, Capistrano Unified staff members said they still expect revenue to be $256 million and expenditures to be $260 million.
