The young Long Beach couple who authorities say killed a 3-year-old girl, entombed her body in a block of concrete and then left the block in a car trunk for seven months pleaded not guilty Thursday to murder charges.

Rakeisha Scott, 23, and Randy Foster, 22, appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court to face charges of murder, assault on a child causing death and child abuse. Bail was set at $2.1 million for Scott and $2.15 million for Foster.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Christina Hill also issued a protective order barring the two from contacting their infant son, who has been taken into protective custody.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives say the two are responsible for the death of Scott’s daughter, Milan Anjonet Scott Wilson, who was last seen in December.

After performing an autopsy Thursday morning, pathologists were still unable to tell what caused Milan’s death. Doctors will conduct further tests, officials said.

The case came to light Tuesday after Foster’s father learned that the girl’s body was in the trunk of a Buick parked behind his home in Willowbrook. Randy Foster had told his father, Bill, that Milan had died in an accident in December and that he and Scott had buried her in concrete because they were afraid they would get in trouble, Bill Foster said.
