Frank Moore; Retired Defense Industry Manager

Frank E. Moore, a retired missile production control manager, died at his home in Ventura on Saturday. He was 83.

Moore was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He later moved to California and graduated from Pomona High School.

He was a World War II Army veteran who had served in the Asian-Pacific Theater.

Moore was employed by the Air Force for many years at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino and later in Ogden, Utah, until he retired in 1973 and moved to Ventura.

An avid fisherman, Moore was a member of the National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees and a volunteer for Food Share, the regional food bank of Ventura County. He also loved to play golf and was a member of Olivas Park Senior Golf Club.

Moore is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaVonne; a son, Larry of Brea; a daughter, Denise Bodin of Ventura; sister Veda Strona of Irvine; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Moore’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society in Ventura or Food Share Inc. in Ventura.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
