SAN CLEMENTE
After months of planning, the South Coast Water District’s Board of Directors has approved the takeover of the Tri-Cities Water District.
The South Coast board last week gave the go-ahead for Tri-Cities’ agreements with San Clemente, the state Department of Parks and Recreation and Camp Pendleton, setting the table for South Coast to assume control of the water broker’s duties and service contracts March 31.
South Coast serves Dana Point and portions of Laguna Beach and San Clemente.
General Manager Michael Dunbar said the final hurdle in the consolidation will come Wednesday when the San Clemente City Council is scheduled to consider the city’s agreement with Tri-Cities, which supplies San Clemente’s water.
