3 Grants to Help Environment
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has awarded three grants totaling more than $450,000 that will benefit Ventura County environmental causes, Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) announced Friday.
The Community Alliance with Family Farmers will receive $180,000 to teach Central Coast farmers about biological farming methods and managing wetlands and other natural resources.
The San Francisco Estuary Institute will receive $175,000 to study exotic species in marine and estuarine waters from San Diego to Port Hueneme.
The California CoastKeeper will receive $99,250 for a community kelp-monitoring program along the Southern California coast, from Santa Barbara County to the Mexican border.
Congress created the Fish and Wildlife Foundation to fund environmental projects through government partnerships with the private sector.
