Collision of Comets, Planets to Be Topic

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will host a lecture on the collision of comets and planets at its monthly meeting Friday at Moorpark College.

Gary Peterson, professor of geology at San Diego State University, will speak on the potential for comet-planet collisions and the evidence of such impacts with the Earth. For 20 years, Peterson has lectured on the geology of planets and other celestial objects in the solar system.

The free event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Moorpark College Forum, 7500 Campus Park Road. For information, call 529-7813.
