Eugene M. Crow; Lifelong Oxnard Resident

Eugene M. Crow, a retired equipment mechanic and lifelong Oxnard resident, died Sunday in an Oxnard hospital after a brief illness. He was 73.

He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Oxnard, where he grew up and went to school.

From 1945 to 1947, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in Greenland.

Crow worked for Wallace Machinery Co. in Oxnard until 1970. He then opened G & G Auto Electric in Oxnard, which he operated for 15 years.

In 1985, he went to work as a mechanic at the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center until retiring in 1990.

He was an avid fan of sprint and midget car races at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. He was a member of Bethany Chapel in Oxnard.

Crow is survived by sons Roger Crow of Ventura, Gary White of San Francisco, Rob White of Ventura and Andy White of Pittstown, N. J.; daughters Kathryn Gray of Ventura and Nancy Browning of Chehalis, Wash.; brothers Kenneth Crow of Camarillo, Phil Crow of Ventura and Charles Crow of Pineville, La.; sisters Viola Hudson and Shirley Broyles, both of Oxnard; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, in 1988.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. today at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which is handling the arrangements.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Tolbert of Bethany Chapel officiating.

Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
