Man Hit by Car on Burbank Blvd. Dies
A 71-year-old Van Nuys man died after being struck by a car while crossing Burbank Boulevard, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.
The man was crossing Burbank west of Ranchito Avenue when he was struck by a Pontiac about 7:30 p.m. Monday, said Officer Steven Cohen of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was mid-block on Burbank and not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit, Cohen said.
The pedestrian was at fault and the driver was not cited, police said.
The victim was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m., police said.
