Nothing to Hebert’s Mystery Ailment

Share

The Ducks cleared up goalie Guy Hebert’s mystery ailment Wednesday. There was nothing wrong with him and he played against the Kings.

Hebert was bowled over twice in the Ducks’ 1-1 tie Saturday against the St. Louis Blues. Teemu Selanne of the Ducks and Stephane Richer of the Blues crashed into Hebert in the first period. Teammate Paul Kariya then knocked Hebert out of the game in overtime, accidentally cracking the goalie in the head with his knee while breaking up a two-on-one rush.

Hebert did not practice Sunday or Monday and did not play in Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

Duck defenseman Niclas Havelid, out almost two months because of a broken finger, returned to Anaheim after a two-game conditioning stint with Cincinnati of the AHL.

Jason Blake was the Kings’ odd man out as a healthy scratch. Nelson Emerson moved into a spot with the Bryan Smolinski-centered second line that Donald Audette vacated when he was traded. Blake had played on that line in several games.

Emerson had an assist on Smolinski’s first-period goal.

King center Bob Corkum requested a number change, from 17 to 19. Emerson took No. 17 and Kelly Buchberger No. 9.
