Developers of the proposed Canyon Crest housing tract said they have reduced the number of houses they plan to build in the Carbon Canyon area from 450 to 250.

Bill Phillips, president of Irvine-based PBR Development, said the change was a result of Olinda Village residents’ concerns about traffic and school crowding. The homes would still be “executive” class, costing $500,000 to $1 million.

Canyon Crest developers will discuss the changes at a meeting with the Olinda Ranch Homeowners Assn. at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

At a similar meeting a few months ago, Olinda Village strongly opposed any new housing. Residents declared that any City Council member who votes for the project would be ousted.
