LAGUNA BEACH
A roofing truck burst into flames Tuesday morning when its crane knocked a power line onto the vehicle, Fire Department officials said.
The fire began about 11:20 a.m. between 2nd and 3rd streets in an alley near Laguna Presbyterian Church. The Fire Department contained the fire by noon.
The church sustained some smoke damage and a broken window from the heat, according to the Fire Department.
Plumes of black smoke from the truck’s burning tires could be seen throughout the city, said Carrie Joyce, Fire Department administrative secretary.
About 3,600 Southern California Edison customers lost power, said Steven Conroy, a spokesman for the company.
