The Tustin Unified School District approved a budget of $378,680 for the Columbus Tustin Middle School Applied Mathematics/Science Magnet Program to begin in the fall. The board approved the new magnet school March 13 and the program is planned to accommodate about 180 students, 60 at each grade level. Implementation will begin for grades six and seven in the 2000-01 school year and grade eight in the 2001-02 school year. The funding will pay for teachers, recruitment brochures, lab furniture and equipment, field trips and audio/visual equipment.
