LA HABRA
The city will dedicate a plaque tonight honoring former Councilman and Mayor Juan M. Garcia tonight for his years of service.
Residents are encouraged to join council members and city staff on the lawn south of the La Habra Branch Library, where the ceremony will take place, city officials said.
Garcia served on the City Council from 1991 to 1999, first as a council member and then as mayor in 1995 and 1999 until he resigned in December.
City officials also will dedicate a tree in Garcia’s name, and Mayor Steven C. Anderson will plant a queen palm tree donated in his honor by the Old Settlers’ Historical Society.
The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at 221 E. La Habra Blvd.
