* Art. “Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Twentieth-Century Mexican Art: The Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection” will run May 14-Sept. 4 at the Museum of Contemporary Art/San Diego, 700 Prospect St., La Jolla. The exhibition will feature more than 80 works by noted Mexican artists of the 20th century, including Kahlo, Rivera, Maria Izquierdo, Jose Clemente Orozco, Carlos Merida, and Rufino Tamayo, as well as contemporary figures Cisco Jimenez, Silvia Gruner and Gabriel Orozco. * Theater. The macabre musical “Shockheaded Peter,” inspired by Heinrich Hoffmann’s 19th century children’s tale “Struwwelpeter” (Slovenly Peter) and featuring 11 original songs written and performed by London’s the Tiger Lilies, opens May 11 at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse.
