San Clemente Stuns No. 3 Trabuco Hills Again; Capistrano Valley Wins

San Clemente upset third-ranked Trabuco Hills for the second time this week, beating the Mustangs, 11-1, in South Coast League baseball Friday at Trabuco Hills.

The Tritons’ Nick Lentine was three for three with a home run, two runs and two RBIs in the five-inning game.

Miles Farquhar (3-4) pitched a five-hitter and struck out four for the Tritons (12-11, 7-6).

Trabuco Hills, which scored in the first inning, is 17-7, 9-4 and tied for first with Capistrano Valley.

In another South Coast League game:

Capistrano Valley 12, Dana Hills 1 (6, mercy)--Brad Davis hit his sixth and seventh home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs for Capistrano Valley (16-8, 9-4). Derek Acosta pitched a four-hitter, allowing no hits through the first five innings.

In the Century League:

No. 1 Villa Park 11, Canyon 4--Junior Quintana had four hits, including a two-run single in a seven-run seventh inning for league champion Villa Park (22-2, 12-1).

In the Empire League:

Katella 3, No. 10 Cypress 0--Darren Sack (7-2) pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks as Katella (15-9, 7-6) won its 10th consecutive game.

Kennedy 5, Century 3--Jeff Anderson and John Cross had two hits each for host Kennedy (16-7-1, 9-3-1).

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 8, Sunny Hills 5--La Habra (15-8, 8-5) had 12 hits, including four doubles and a triple. Highlander reliever Bryan Gailey (2-1) entered the game in the first inning and finished for the victory.

Sonora 5, Fullerton 4--Jeff Padgett was three for three with a home run, two runs and two RBIs for Sonora (16-8, 8-5), which is tied for first with La Habra.

In the Orange League:

Magnolia 8, Brea Olinda 7--Brian Poetschlag hit a three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for host Magnolia (10-14, 5-8).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Beach 11, Costa Mesa 4--Laguna Beach secured a playoff spot for the first time in 37 years. Kirk Ziegler (2-3) who earned the victory, was four-for-four with two home runs and eight RBIs for Laguna Beach (8-11, 6-6).

No. 4 University 3, Corona del Mar 0--Eric Foxman (6-1) struck out seven and Orion Ledesman had a two-run double for league champion University (19-4, 10-0).

In the Sea View League:

No. 7 Irvine 7, Laguna Hills 4--Jon DeVries had two hits and a run for league leader Irvine (18-5, 13-1).
