A number of performances are scheduled before the curtain comes down on the Ventura Chamber Music Festival on Sunday. Following is a brief look at events being held at various downtown Ventura locations.

* Today, 3 p.m.: Ventura Chamber Music Festival Brass Quartet, Nona’s Courtyard.

* Today, 3:30 p.m.: Composer-director John Biggs with violinist Juliette Kang and guest artists, Church of Religious Science.

* Today, 8 p.m.: Ben Hong (cello) and Christopher O’Riley (piano), Church of Religious Science.

* Friday, 11 a.m.: “Brunch With the Artists,” a discussion led by Karyl Lynn Burns, executive director of Rubicon Theatre, Pierpont Inn.

* Friday, 8 p.m.: The Shanghai String Quartet, Mission Auditorium.

* Saturday, 10:30 a.m.: The Shanghai Quartet, with guest artist Ben Hong (cello), Ventura Theatre.

* Saturday, 8 p.m.: Celestial Diamonds, Ventura Theatre.

* Sunday, 11 a.m.: Juliette Kang (violin), David Peck (clarinet), Paul Cohen (cello), Edith Orloff (piano), Ventura Theatre.

Family Affair

The musical genes of the McEuen family will be on display Friday at the Livery Theatre in downtown Ventura. John McEuen--co-founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and master of all things stringed--will be joined by his talented progenies, Nathan and Jonathan. It’s a rare event when all three perform together. Prepare for a heavy-duty evening of picking--from blues to bluegrass and beyond.

Thought-Filled

The Ajiva Dance Theatre will contemplate spirituality, mystical quagmires and other quests when it presents “Offerings” this weekend at the Laurel Theatre in Ventura. The regional dance collective will stage choreographic works by CathyJean Butter, Barbara Jo Fleming, Kathy Henjyoji, Sara Levy and Susan Shaberman. Contributing guest choreographers include Pamela Pilkenton with the Opera Dance Ensemble. The production’s themes will be accentuated with live music and a multimedia installation of altars created by local artists.

Voices

The Ojai Camerata, an ensemble dedicated to vocal-based music, will present two performances of its “American Celebration” program this weekend at Ojai Presbyterian Church. Under the direction of Bill Wagner, the concerts will highlight works by American composers. Included: John Rutter’s “Magnificat”; excerpts from Aaron Copland’s “Tenderland”; Emma Lou Diemer’s “Eleven Limericks”; plus works by Charles Ives, Samuel Barber and Kurt Weill.
