* Re “Glendale Students Mourn Slain Classmate,” May 9:

I can’t help but wonder how many of the students who left classes to “grieve at a sidewalk memorial for Raul Aguirre” on Monday were also a part of the “large crowd of students” who stood by and watched as that poor boy was beaten and stabbed to death on Friday? In trying to stop the violence, Raul was the one student who showed any sense or courage during that fight. No amount of technology or campus “security” will ever make a difference in tragedies like this one if onlookers are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions or inaction.
