Bank of America Branch Robbed

Share

A man robbed a busy Bank of America branch here Thursday afternoon and fled on foot, authorities said.

The holdup occurred about 1:30 p.m. at the branch in the 1400 block of Moorpark Road, Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Meyers said. The man walked up to a teller and told her that he was robbing the bank. He then escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

There was no note, and authorities said the man did not appear to have a gun. Other employees and customers in the bank weren’t aware the robbery had occurred, Meyers said.

Although helicopters and patrol cars searched for the robber, deputies hadn’t found any suspect as of late afternoon.

The robber was described as a white man in his late 40s to early 50s, about 5 feet 8 and heavyset, with salt-and-pepper hair. He was wearing a green shirt and dark-colored pants, authorities said.

The robbery is not believed to be linked to the heist Wednesday at an Oxnard B of A branch, authorities said.
