It’s More Like a ‘Pitch Bad’ Situation

Share

In trying to get more innings for Orel Hershiser to pitch, Manager Davey Johnson stated he faced a “Catch-22” situation, because he already had a set five-man starting rotation. The only thing Johnson faces is a difficult problem, one that most managers have to deal with.

Like so many folks, Johnson has no idea what a “Catch-22” situation is. If you want to find out, read Joseph Heller’s novel. If not, stop using the term. If Heller were alive, he could sue, and retire in luxury.

Isn’t it about time that Davey Johnson considers another closer. Jeff Shaw has already blown four saves in 11 chances. A 1-2-3 inning is a distant memory and it will only get worse. The Dodgers already have a decrease in attendance and at this rate those $225 tickets will be as empty as Clipper seats in June.

Chan Ho Park . . . stinks.

Jeff Shaw . . . stinks

The rest of the bullpen . . . stinks.

Terry Adams . . . stinks worse than anybody and belongs in high school ball.

Carlos Perez . . . isn’t half bad?

Go figure.
