In other first-round series:

Cypress 7, Rio Hondo 4--Jeff Ruziecki’s two-run home run in the seventh inning broke a 4-4 tie and gave the fourth-seeded Chargers (34-11) a sweep.

Rio Hondo (26-14) rallied from a 4-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth off Danny Ellis, the Cypress starter who left with one out in the inning. Garrett Estabrook pitched the final 3 2/3 innings without giving up a hit.

Ruziecki, a freshman first baseman who also had a single and a double, then broke the tie with his fifth home run of the season, off reliever Gary Hee. Hee homered in the sixth for Rio Hondo.

The victory put Cypress in this week’s four-team regional at Santa Ana. The Chargers will meet East Los Angeles at 11 a.m. in Friday’s first round.

Palomar 6, Golden West 4--Golden West failed to advance, losing its second game. The Rustlers finished the season with a 21-22 record.
