Man Dies After Jumping From Freeway Overpass in Anaheim
A man who jumped off the Placentia Avenue overpass onto the Riverside Freeway in Anaheim on Tuesday afternoon died at the scene after being hit by a semi truck, authorities said.
The man was not carrying any identification, Anaheim Police Lt. Harold Mitmann said.
No one else was injured in the incident, which occurred about 4:45 p.m. and forced authorities to close the eastbound lanes of the freeway briefly. Though two lanes were reopened after about 30 minutes, traffic was backed up for several miles, police said.
An investigation of the incident is continuing, Mitmann said. “We are looking into why and who else might know about the motive,” he said.
