Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter, sent to Florida to rehab his strained abdominal muscle, was put on the 15-day disabled list on Friday night before New York’s game against the Cleveland Indians.

Jeter missed his fifth consecutive game on Wednesday before going to the Yankees’ training facility in Tampa, Fla. The move is retroactive to May 12, meaning Jeter can come off the DL on May 27 when the Yankees play host to the Boston Red Sox.

To replace Jeter, the Yankees recalled infielder Alfonso Soriano from triple-A Columbus. Soriano was in the starting lineup Friday night, batting ninth and playing shortstop.
