Bowers Awarded $40,000 Grant
The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana received a $40,000 grant to tread new waters starting with a plan for an improved permanent exhibit titled “Pacific Odyssey: Art, Culture and the Peopling of Oceania.”
The award is one of seven given to museums in the United States by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Museum officials say the planning grant will help rejuvenate the permanent collection of Oceanic art, and fund a supplemental traveling exhibit as well as educational programs about the ancient arts of Southeast Asia and Oceania.
