The Music Theatre of Southern California production of Meredith Willson’s classic musical “The Music Man” comes to Glendale this weekend for five performances only.

Holiday Celebration

Horace Heidt will have his annual Memorial Day bash, with show and dinner, Saturday in Sherman Oaks. Scheduled to perform are Kae Butterfield and Patti Allison, plus Heidt and his Musical Knights.

Symphony Concert

The San Fernando Valley Symphony, under the direction of James Domine, will play Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic suite “Scheherazade” and other works Saturday at Pierce College. Rimsky-Korsakov’s piece was inspired by “A Thousand and One Nights,” a collection of Persian, Indian and Arabian tales in which Scheherazade postpones her execution by telling her husband a new story each night without revealing the climax until the next evening.

Air Show

The sixth annual “World’s Smallest Air Show” takes place this weekend at the Brian Ranch Airport in Llano. Aerial demonstrations, an ultralight competition, skydivers, plus displays of aircraft, classic cars and antique farm equipment will be featured.

Holiday Parade

The 12th annual Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade will pass through downtown Canoga Park on Monday. The parade will go east on Sherman Way between Owensmouth and DeSoto avenues; south on DeSoto Avenue to Vanowen Street; and west on Vanowen Street to Owensmouth. This year’s theme is “Honoring Those Who Served.”
