Freeway Assistance
My car blew a tire on the 405 Freeway the other afternoon. Luckily I was able to pull onto the the right shoulder, turn on my emergency lights and wait for a policeman. A half-hour passed, but no cops. Then a tow truck pulled up. “I’ll change your tire,” the driver said, “and it won’t cost you anything. I’m paid to help motorists in trouble.” He removed the shredded tire, replaced it with my spare and refused the $5 tip I offered him. It is a blessing that this service is supplied to motorists, and I want to thank the department responsible.
