Police Cpl. Kevin Chinnock has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in his hotel room while attending a law enforcement training seminar in the Monterey area.

Pacific Grove police said Chinnock, 32, was arrested Wednesday after the woman alleged he forced her to have sex with him at the Lighthouse Lodge in Pacific Grove, a small community between Monterey and the Pebble Beach golf course. He met the woman while off duty in the bar of the Marriott hotel in nearby Monterey on Tuesday night, said Pacific Grove Police Capt. Carl Miller.

Chinnock, of La Verne, was released on $15,000 bail late Wednesday and was immediately placed on paid leave by the Pasadena Police Department, officials said. His arraignment has been set for Nov. 14 in Salinas, but the Monterey County district attorney’s office has yet to decide whether to file formal charges.

Chinnock and a male officer were attending a training seminar on interrogations and interviews, police said.

Chinnock and the unidentified man allegedly met with two women in a bar, police said. One of the women accompanied Chinnock back to his room; police said she told them he assaulted her there in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Miller said the woman went to the Carmel Community Hospital emergency room sometime before noon and medical staff members contacted police.
